Gender and work: women in leadership positions at the Rectorate of the National University of Misiones
The aim of this study was to examine/analyze the distribution according to gender, age, teaching seniority, undergraduate degree and academic unit of origin, of the teachers who served in leadership positions at the Rectorate of the National University of Misiones since its creation. Electoral periods and direct appointments from 1973 to 2022 were analyzed. Out of a total of 84 leadership positions, 65 were held by the male (77 %) and 19 by the women (23 %). No significant differences between genders were found in terms of age or seniority. The most common undergraduate degrees were Chemical Engineering (20 %) and Bachelor of Social Work (7 %). The study concludes that, although currently the highest leadership position is held by a woman, only 23 % of such positions have been historically occupied by women, indicating that gender parity for leadership positions is not applied in this institution.
